OK, dancers, and before the angry (Anti-tango comp) mob takes up their pitch forks and torches…Lets just have a heart to heart about the “Good, the Bad and the Ugly” of competition.
The Good …
Competition can bring out your hardest work and put a fire under you to improve like nothing else. It will connect you to like minded dancers that are striving to grow and improve their dance. Regardless the out come, your personal growth is yours to keep, pushing you on to be a better dancer and competitor.
The Bad…
It is easy to get caught up in winning, so much so that you loose site of all you stand to gain. It is easy to get negative when the out come is not as you would have hoped.
The Ugly…
Remember, no one competition defines you or your abilities. We encourage you to have the proper perspective and maintain a positive out look. Use the experience to spring board you to another level and get you one step closer to your goals. But, please don’t give up… we have seen it happen. Don’t blame or diminish the victory of your fellow competitors and, please do not undermine the judges by bad mouthing their decision.. oh, so ugly.
Our promise to you…
While we cannot promise anyone first place, what we can promise is an exciting and carefully planned out competition. SCTC goes through great lengths and expense to provide the most experienced and unbiased judging panel. We invite maestros that rarely, if ever, teach in the United States. Additionally, the organizer and staff have absolutely no input on the winners or outcome of the event… we find out the night of winning ceremonies along with you and the spectators. By signing up to compete, you are agreeing to the terms and the outcomes of this competition. We respectfully ask that you do not criticize the judges and the results. So, with that being said, bring your best, and by that we also mean, bring your best sportsmanship and let’s have another adrenalin charged and unforgettable competition.
