JOIN THE SCTC 2023 TEAM
Every year we strive to outdo ourselves and provide an even better experience for all SoCal Tango Championship competitors and participants. A great deal of our success is due to our team members and the amazing combination of talents and smiles. We are always looking for people like you, who are passionate about Argentine tango and wish to be part of a staple tango event in Los Angeles.
Meet SCTC 2023 Team Coordinator/Floor Manager Melody Flores
Some of the roles you can play are:
- Competitors coordinator – ensure all competitors have a smooth and memorable experience
- Host/Hostess – welcome old friends or make new ones as you show guests to their tables
- Stage manager – be part of the complex evening schedule: show, announcements, awards, etc.
- Front desk attendant – ensure a quick and smooth check-in experience for all guests
- Decorator – create the warm space we will be in throughout the event
- Lighting coordinator – set the perfect dancing mood through lighting
- Driver – get to know our maestros, band members, DJs and others in the privacy of your car
- Photographer – capture those moments all participants will thank you for on social media
- Videographer – be in the right place at the right time to show others what they missed
- Social media influencer – select highlights of the event and post live of short there after
- Vendors coordinator – make sure event partners have what they need
- Classes scheduler – support dancers in finding a private time slot with maestros
What you bring to the team:
- A big smile, a friendly and cheerful personality
- A positive can-do attitude, always with the event participants’ experience in mind
- Respect towards our team members, by always being on time and communicating when you cannot get to a task
What we offer and how it works:
- Once we know you’re interested in being part of the team, our team members coordinator will reach out to you directly
- After the initial contact, all communication before the event will be maintained via your preferred communication method (phone, email, etc.)
- There will be only one mandatory all team members meeting on Saturday, March 7 from 2 to 4pm in the Burbank area, in Los Angeles. If you are joining us from out of town, we will do our best to ensure you know your responsibilities, schedule, etc.
- All tasks are designed in shifts of 2hrs
- A total of eight work hours (4 shifts) guarantee you a full milonga/spectator pass ($160 value)
- A total of 12 work hours (6 shifts) guarantee you a full festival pass ($240 value)
- Payment structure is as follows:
- Before the event, you will be required to submit payment equivalent to the total number of hours you’ve signed up for. For example, you will submit $160 if you have signed up for a total of eight work hours
- During the event, as you complete a shift, you will sign off on a check-in sheet
- After the event, you will be reimbursed for the hours you’ve worked at the rate of $20/hr. For example:
- If you signed up for eight hours of work and pre-paid $160 and worked your scheduled eight hours, you will be reimbursed $160
- If you signed up for eight hours of work and pre-paid $160 but only worked six hours, you will be reimbursed $120
