Welcome and thank you for attending the 2nd Annual Southern California Tango Championship. After many years of traveling to amazing festivals worldwide and competing numerous times in the World Tango Championship, I was eager to recreate these experiences in Los Angeles, combining both festival and championship into a single quality event. The idea behind this championship is not necessarily to select a winner, but rather to provide an environment for inspiration, improvement, new friendships, getting valuable feedback, and working towards our personal tango goals, whatever those may be.
This year, I am particularly excited to add the waltz and milonga categories, making this the only event in the US to feature these forms of tango. My dream is to provide a memorable experience, bringing the passionate dancers all over the US, Mexico, and Canada together to share what we love most – dancing tango. I am thankful for my team for putting forth their best efforts, sponsors for their trust, participants for making this competition happen, and the owners of this beautiful venue, the Downtown Dance and Movement.
